“Compassion does not mean weak, it means understanding the human element.” —Joan Webb
Before Joan Webb was called into home building she was pursuing her passion as a human rights activist, serving as Vice Chair of Amnesty International U.S. But, as she recalls, she also needed to earn a living. When a dear friend called in a panic needing help at the Signature Homes onsite design studio, it was easy for Joan to step in. Little did she know that one phone call would open the door to an entirely new career.
From Signature Homes, Joan went on to work at five different builders, the most recent being The New Home Company. She championed the way for women in the workplace—challenging home builders to check their biases and encouraging women to lead difficult conversations and push for what they wanted. Joan believes the cornerstone of good leadership is compassion, strength, and freedom.
Learn more about Joan’s incredible career accomplishments, her niche talents, and her advice for women in leadership in this episode of the Inspirational Leadership with the Best in Home Building podcast hosted by Zonda’s Mollie Carmichael.
