Ali Wolf Reports to Bloomberg on Why America’s Housing Shortage is So Hard to Fix
“Only 10% of new homes now sell for less than $300,000. Two years ago, a third did. It’s not just because of the pandemic.”
The Dow Jones MarketWatch recently featured an opinion piece by Zonda’s chief economist, Ali Wolf. In the article, “Only 10% of new homes now sell for less than $300,000. Two years ago, a third did. It’s not just because of the pandemic.” Wolf shares four structural issues “that make it increasingly difficult to get entry-level homes built today, exacerbating the issue of affordability.” Including land price increases, labor scarcity, additional time and costs due to regulations, and resistance from local NIMBYs (not in my backyard.)
